Traditional Siamese Cats

1. Applehead

One special thing about Appleheads is that their tails are usually shorter than other cats. They’re also really good at jumping and running. The Applehead has dark brown or black markings on certain parts of its body.

2. Classic

The Cat Fanciers’ Association, decided to accept Classic Siamese cats as a breed in 2009. These cats have round heads and smooth bodies, which help them run and jump.

Another thing that makes them special is their long tails and noses without a big dip. They also have dark markings for which Siamese cats are known, and bright blue eyes grab your attention.

3. Old Style

They’re neither too big nor too small, but they’re bigger than the modern wedge cats. They resemble a mix between the modern wedge Siamese cats and the applehead ones.

Old-style Siamese cats have noses that are shaped a bit like almonds. Their ears are also pretty wide. Sometimes, they might have eyes that cross a little, which is common for Siamese cats. If I talk about their faces, I will say they are a bit longer than other Siamese cats.

Modern Siamese Mix Cats

Modern Siamese cats were developed through selective breeding programs in the mid-20th century. These cats have a more elongated, slender body and a wedge-shaped head with large, almond-shaped eyes. Modern Siamese cats are grouped into three types:

1. Wedge

Modern Wedge Siamese cats, known as “wedgies”, gained popularity in the 1980s. They are recognized for their distinct wedge-shaped heads, large, low-set ears, slender bodies, and slightly slanted eyes. Like other Siamese cats, wedgies are known for their friendly and affectionate nature.

However, due to breeding practices, some may be prone to health issues affecting their liver, heart, or kidneys, resulting in a shorter lifespan of around eight years. They require stimulating environments with plenty of toys and space to play and run around to keep them healthy and happy, as they are active and vocal cats.

2. Light Colored Points

Light-Colored Points Siamese cats have pale, creamy points (ears, face, legs, and tail) contrasting with their light-colored body. There are several color variations of Light Colored Points Siamese, including:

Cream Point: Cream Point cats have a light color, but they could become darker with age.

They’re a mix of Red Point Siamese, Abyssinian cats, and regular short-haired house cats. These cats have soft, white fur and light pink paw pads.

Chocolate Point: Chocolate point cats might appear as cozy and delightful as chocolate, but they’re not counted among the dark-colored cats.

Instead, they have a gentle shade of light brown.

Lilac Point: The Lilac Points Siamese cat has a unique, pale gray coat with pinkish undertones. They were first discovered in the 1960s by breeding Dilute Chocolate and Blue Point Siamese cats together.

These cats have a medium-sized body and a short, fine coat. They are known for their affectionate, social personalities.

3. Dark Colored Points

Dark Colored Points Siamese cats have dark, rich-colored points contrasting with their light-colored bodies. There are several color variations of Dark Colored Points Siamese, including:

Seal Point: Seal Point Siamese look like seals, with darker fur than chocolate points, ranging from dark brown to black.

Blue Point: Blue Point Siamese cats have bluish-white fur with grey-blue points and pink noses.

Red Point: These Siamese have pinkish-white fur with reddish-orange points from Tortoiseshells and Red Tabbies.
